We use your personal data so that we can process your application for a Council Tax Energy Rebate and contact you in case of a query regarding your application.

The lawful basis for processing your personal data is for the performance of a public task.

We will hold your data for the purposes stated above for as long as we are required to do so by law. The data will be stored within the European Economic Area (EEA).

We may share your personal data with other council services, other local authorities and Government organisations to check the information provided in your application. Also, with the credit agency Experian to verify bank account ownership for fraud prevention.

We are administering these rebates on behalf of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities, and your data will be shared with them for monitoring, evaluation and research purposes, as well as for prevention and detection of fraud and/or other criminal activities and for suspension and/or recovery of the rebate where necessary. The Government may share information for the purpose of counter fraud activity and debt recovery with other Government departments, agencies and/or local authorities.

We will not disclose any personal information to any other third parties unless required to do so by law or where it is appropriate to support our duty to protect public funds and/or detect and prevent fraud.

All information is processed in accordance with our data protection privacy policy .

The information provided will be subject to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, but personal information will not be released in response to FOI requests.
